Many families stated they have been worse off than earlier than the oil palm plantation. The oil palm plantations continue to have a devastating impression on the livelihoods of communities, especially girls, and on their access to food, potable water, and their culture. More than two dozen neighborhood members advised Human Rights Watch that neither the corporate nor the government gave them prior details about creating an oil palm plantation on their land and forests.
