Although the science devices will simply start their commissioning, not yet delivering their optimum performances, science knowledge will be obtained as part of “shared-risk” science programs. The data will be submitted by the TMT scientific neighborhood to be reviewed and, if selected, carried out at the observatory. These shared-risk observations are extremely important, as they will provide the first opportunity to test, tune, and validate the operability of the full suite of observatory systems concerned in the lifecycle of science packages.
